I am a dermatologist specializing in keloids—a disorder I confront not only as a scientist but also as a patient. Living with keloids has exposed me to their paradoxical essence: they enlarge inexorably, provoke refractory pain and pruritus, and recur despite every standard intervention, yet I once witnessed one of my own lesions vanish spontaneously while others persisted. This enigma convinced me that keloids conceal latent biological switches—elusive molecular targets that, once deciphered, may unlock the possibility of non-invasive and curative therapies. My aspiration is to transcend the current therapeutic impasse, to delineate these molecular levers, and ultimately to redefine keloid treatment—from transient palliation to genuine scar-free regeneration.
